WHY DO WE NEED THE USHER GALLERY TRUST? xxx The Usher Gallery Lincoln is Lincolnshire’s premier art gallery, officially opened in 1927 following a bequest to the City by Lincoln jeweller James Ward Usher. The Mission of the Usher Gallery Trust is to enhance, enrich and preserve the collection of local regional and national cultural importance. The Usher Gallery Trust has been founded to achieve the following aims and objectives “To purchase for the Usher Gallery, for the benefit of the public painting, drawings, prints, sculptures, books, manuscripts, works of art that are of national scientific, historical or artistic interest or of interest by virtue of some association with the historic County of Lincolnshire and in accordance with the current approved collecting policy and financial provision for research, education and exhibitions.”
